My name is Harper Madeline Ness, and Alignedness is a title for my brand/labor of love; a compilation of customized artwork and yoga sequences. Each made to serve you, just as you are.
For as long as I can remember, movement has kept me sane, and symmetry, patterns, and beautiful compositions of all sorts have kept me inspired. When entering into young adulthood I began to fall victim to suffering underneath the pressures and corruption in society - expressing myself through art and motion became my salvation.
And as others began to delight in my creations, it seemed as if I had stumbled upon my purpose and place in the world where I once felt lost. I have always been incredibly passionate about making people feel seen and understood, and Alignedness is where I get to multiply my own joy into more joy for others.
I create yoga classes and one-of-a-kind masterpieces to remind others to stay in firm alignment with who they are. These are the motifs that have allowed me to retrieve trust in myself time and time again; and I hope to be a catalyst to restoring the same to many others.
I feel that life is all about unearthing whatever it is that aligns us and makes us feel at home.
(And of course, when considering a name for my enterprise I knew I had to include the suffix Ness, because it is too perfect of a last name to not make a play on words!)
Both my yoga sequences and mandalas are crafted one of a kind to suit you - to empower and capture the essence of your unique personality and taste, and to remind you of the meaning and beauty present amidst the chaos of life.

I stumbled into yoga looking for a way to stay active, and shortly thereafter learned there was so much more — that this could be an avenue for coping with the anxiety and depression I had suffered from since I was too young to even understand it. And furthermore, this could be the path to connecting with people of all varieties; to endow a philosophy built on compassion, introspection, acceptance, and peace.
I have completed 400 hours of yoga teacher training, half of which took place at Salt Lake Community College, and the other in Rishikesh, India through a Yoga Alliance recognized school. I have taught and taken yoga classes all over the world, including a ship on the arctic seas, Ireland, Bali, and Kauai, where I live now. My decision to offer customized classes is rooted in the desire to connect closely with people, to soothe ailments, and expertly address specific needs.
As an artist, I strive to symbolize the vast diversity of human kind. Each of my creations are designed to represent an individual, and to showcase all their unique idiosyncrasies. My pieces tell stories of pivotal, defining moments; I etch meaning and memories into every pen stroke. Each design is symbolic of someone’s experience - their joy, passion, suffering, growth.
Breath and movement and dedicated concentration through pen on paper have become outlets for me, granting me peace and solace in all of the most challenging times.
I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where I always felt like a bit of a misfit. I liked to learn, but my short attention span and hyperactive personality made it a struggle to stay focused in school. My inherited biology landed me with severe anxiety, and my difficulty performing in school eventually led to feeling lost and depressed. In my early adulthood I struggled with an eating disorder, and I am still in the process of building a healthy relationship with food and my body.
Even as I grow my trust in my place in the world, I sometimes catch myself feeling inadequate. I realize other people suffer from similar obstacles. I find vulnerability and openness bring us closer together, and make us feel less alone. We are all grappling with our own version of what it means to be imperfectly human. I believe that acceptance, honesty, and a desire to grow are are the foundation of a collection of beautiful success stories.

In summary, movement, expression, and serving others has given my life purpose. Everything I have grappled with mentally and physically have become things I am grateful for because they have led me to discover and appreciate my own individuality and gifts that I have to share with the world.
My greatest joy is creating a welcoming space for others to discover the brightest pieces of themselves. I believe that all beings contain immense power to prosper. To fully embrace our potential, we must lend ourselves to whatever environment we can that greets us with a loving embrace. I hope that this can be that space for you. Welcome home.
